2012 WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

CROSS COUNTRY

This team won the 2012 6A Cross Country STATE CHAMPIONSHIP and had a dominant 3-year run. From 2011 to 2013, they won two conference championships, they won the prestigious Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival, and had two state runner up finishes in addition to their 2012 championship. Team members include, 3X all state runner Dierdre Sheets, 2X all state Hanna “Owen” Turner and Kelsey “Brown” Winn , All conference runner Maria Garcia, Imelda “Rios” Hirsh , Jessica Lilze , Katie Powell, Katy “Rose” Clay , Melanie “Brecht” Massey , and Bella Chavez.

FORREST JOHNSON

FOOTBALL - TRACK - BASKETBALL

Forrest was an all state performer for our War Eagle football team as a senior. He was a 3 year letterman. For his career, he caught 123 passes for 2,359 yards and 26 touchdowns and rushed for an additional 634 yards and 6 touchdowns. On the Track, Forrest was two-time all state and helped lead the War Eagles to the 2013 6A Track State Championship. He won back to back individual State Championships in the high jump and remains in the top 10 of several War Eagle track leader boards. A great all around athlete, he also lettered for the Basketball War Eagles.

COLBY ISBELL

FOOTBALL

Colby was a two time all-conference defensive lineman for our War Eagles. He was voted all state in 2012 and was named the Northwest Arkansas Defensive Lineman of the year in 2013. Following his time at Heritage, Colby went on to play at Missouri State University. As a freshman at MSU, he earned Freshman FCS All-American honors. He was also named to the Missouri Valley Football all conference teams in 2016 and 2017. Excellent in the classroom, he was named to the Missouri State Athletic Directors Honor Roll with distinction.

GRANT DRIVER

FOOTBALL - BASEBALL

Grant played baseball and batted over .300 for our War Eagles. And on the football field he was exceptional. Grant was a Wide Receiver for the first two seasons in the history of War Eagle football, including the 2009 team that finished 9-3 and advanced into the State quarterfinals. Grant was named Team MVP in both 2009 and 2010, and he was honored as All-Conference and All-State in each of his two seasons. He finished his career with an incredible 2,643 yards and 24 Touchdowns receiving. In the quarterfinal playoff game against North Little Rock alone, Grant caught 12 passes for 280 yards and 4 touchdowns. Grant graduated from Heritage with the Class of 2010.

SPANKY PURDY

BASEBALL - FOOTBALL

Spanky excelled in both football and baseball for the War Eagles. In Football, Spanky started on the Defensive Line in both of his years, including the 9-3 War Eagles team in 2009. He was given the Eagle Pride award, celebrating his leadership and spirit. On the baseball diamond, Spanky was a two-time all Conference selection. In 2010, he batted .421, leading the War Eagles to the 7-A West conference championship. For his efforts, he was named the Team MVP, All-State, and participated in the All Star Game. The answer to a great trivia question, Spanky hit the first Single, Double, and Home Run in War Eagle History. Spanky graduated from Heritage with the Class of 2010.

ELLEN LUNDY

SOCCER - TENNIS - BASKETBALL

Ellen excelled in three sports during her time with the War Eagles, and she was voted All-Conference in all three of them. On the Tennis court, she was two-time All State and a 7A-West Conference Champion and 7A-State tennis champion. On the soccer pitch, she was a three-time All State award winner and War Eagle Team MVP in 2012 and 2013. Ellen went on to play Division 1 soccer at Lipscomb university in Nashville, Tennessee. During her time there she made the All-Conference team FOUR times. Her senior year in 2017, Ellen was named the Atlantic Sun CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE YEAR. Ellen graduated from Heritage in the Class of 2013.

ZAC STEWART

FOOTBALL - BASEBALL - BASKETBALL

Zac excelled in multiple sports during his time at Heritage. In football, Zac was a 2X All Conference performer and was all state in 2010. In the 2009 season, Zac was the 7A-West Conference leading rusher and was named VYPE magazine RB of the year. Zac also lettered 3 years in basketball, earning the team defensive award in 2009. On the War Eagle baseball team, Zac was a 3-year letter winner. He was all conference three times and made the all state tournament team two times. After high school, Zac continued his baseball career at Harding university where he was all conference, all region, and all academic all conference in 2016. His 12 career triples is still a Great American Conference Record. Zac graduated from Heritage with the class of 2011.

JIMMY PARKER

SWIMMING

A graduate of Heritage with the class of 2011, Jimmy was a 3-time All conference and 3-time All State performer in the pool. In 2010-11, he was the individual state champion in the 100-meter butterfly. Jimmy still owns HHS swimming records for the 100M Breaststroke, 200M Freestyle, 200M Individual Medley, 200M Freestyle relay, and the 200M Medley relay. In 2010 and 2011, he was named a USA Swimming Scholastic All American and was part of the USA Swimming Junior Nationals. An excellent student, he was appointed to the United States Military Academy in 2011.

HUNTER WOOD

BASEBALL

During his time at Heritage, Hunter was a 3-time All Conference and 2-time All State player for our War Eagles, and was named to the All-State tournament team in 2011 and 2012. Hunter still owns War Eagle records for single season and career wins, single season and career strikeouts, and single season saves and innings pitched. Following his career at Heritage, Hunter played one season at Howard CC. Then he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays, spending the last 9 seasons in professional baseball including 4 seasons in the major leagues, compiling a career 3.34 MLB ERA with the Rays, Indians and Rangers. Hunter graduated from Heritage with the class of 2012.

BLAKE BAXENDALE

BASEBALL

Blake was a catcher, and perhaps the best hitter in War Eagle history. He batted a school record .506 with 6 home runs and 31 RBIs in 2011. He was named all-conference and all-state 2 times during his career at Heritage. He paired up with fellow Hall of Famer Hunter Wood on the 2011 and 2012 teams that won back to back 7A-West Conference Championships and played in the 2012 State Championship game. As a senior, he was named the top position player in the state of Arkansas by Perfect Game, the top player in the state by MaxPreps, and the 2012 Arkansas Democrat Gazette Mr. Baseball Player of the Year. Blake went on to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks after he graduated with the Heritage Class of 2012.
